12-Session Structured Swimming Journey

Discover our scientific swim syllabus designed by Head Coach Nguyen Huy Manh. We break down the progress into 4 clear phases, ensuring a natural, safe, and guaranteed learning curve.

Phase 1 Duration: 3 sessions

Water Adaptation & Safety Basics (Sessions 1 - 3)

"Students overcome fear of water, acclimatize to the pool environment, and master foundational water survival techniques."

Detailed training focus:

  • 🔹 Learn correct breathing (inhaling through the mouth above water, blowing bubbles through the nose underwater) to prevent choking.
  • 🔹 Practice floating (starfish back float and front float) to let the body rise naturally without floatation devices.
  • 🔹 Learn basic gliding (pushing off the wall in a streamlined posture) to generate movement.
  • 🔹 Master opening eyes underwater and returning to a standing position safely from a float.
Water Adaptation & Safety Basics (Sessions 1 - 3)
Phase 2 Duration: 3 sessions

Stroke Mechanics: Kick & Pull (Sessions 4 - 6)

"Start learning propulsive kick and arm movements, preparing for coordination of the primary stroke (usually breaststroke)."

Detailed training focus:

  • 🔹 Learn breaststroke kicking technique (Bend - Flex - Kick - Glide) on land and on the wall underwater.
  • 🔹 Learn breaststroke arm pulling and head lifting for breathing on land and in shallow water.
  • 🔹 Practice kicking with a kickboard to cover longer distances.
  • 🔹 Integrate arm pulls and head lifts for breathing with assistant kicking.
Stroke Mechanics: Kick & Pull (Sessions 4 - 6)
Phase 3 Duration: 3 sessions

Full-Body Coordination & Water Treading (Sessions 7 - 9)

"Integrate separate motions into a flowing coordination, starting independent swimming without gear and learning self-rescue treading."

Detailed training focus:

  • 🔹 Coordinate: 1 arm pull (breathe) - 1 kick - Glide and float.
  • 🔹 Practice short-distance swims (10m - 15m) without gear under close coach supervision.
  • 🔹 Learn treading water (utilizing breaststroke or scissor kicks, and hand-sculling to stay afloat).
  • 🔹 Practice jumping into deep water from the deck and rising to float immediately.
Full-Body Coordination & Water Treading (Sessions 7 - 9)
Phase 4 Duration: 3 sessions

Distance Building & Advanced Rescue (Sessions 10 - 12)

"Build endurance for longer swims and master critical self-rescue/cramp handling in deep water."

Detailed training focus:

  • 🔹 Extend swimming distance to 25m - 50m continuously with a steady breathing rhythm.
  • 🔹 Master treading water confidently for 30 seconds to over 2 minutes in deep pools.
  • 🔹 Learn self-rescue for cramps, exhaustion, and choking in deep areas.
  • 🔹 End-of-course test: Graduate, swim independently, and receive a certificate.

Why 12 Sessions?

Many commercial centers promise "learn to swim in 3 or 5 sessions". However, according to Coach Nguyen Huy Manh:

  • ⚠️ Super-fast courses often lead to incorrect technique, rapid fatigue, and a lack of deep-water treading ability.
  • ⚠️ Forcing child movements too quickly before water comfort is built creates long-term psychological fear.
  • ✔️ A 12-session pathway is the scientifically proven duration for muscle memory to consolidate properly.
  • ✔️ Ensures students learn clean, energy-efficient strokes and acquire treading and self-rescue safety that lasts a lifetime.
